get to know me

Hi there! I'm Kaila (pronounced K-eye-la), I live here in sunny South Africa, I have a little Yorkie named Oorkies, and I happen to really like pineapple on my pizza. Growing up I remember always wanting to do something with my hands whether that be sculpting things from playing clay, sewing clothes for my dolls, building Lego’s with my younger brother, or just simply drawing and painting, I loved to create, and I still do. As I got older, I started experimenting with makeup, I remember being 15 and my best friend and I would buy these awful false lashes and stick them on for each other every time we went out somewhere, I still laugh a little when I think back on my high school years, but I mean who doesn't, right?

After school, while everyone else from my year went off to university or went to explore the world, I sat at home wondering what I was going to do with my life, and that’s when I discovered YouTube beauty gurus. I spent my entire gap year watching their videos every afternoon after I got home from my part time job I had at the time. Man did I want to be one of them too. Thankfully my parents saw all of this and encouraged me to pursue my dreams of being a makeup artist, so I took a course, got my diploma, won student of the year, and now I freelance (full-time) doing what I love with a bunch of incredible and inspiring people.

I am so immensely grateful for all the opportunities that have come my way, and I am lucky to be blessed with so many beautiful people in my life.
